House#2

CASA NIDO:

This house is called “ Nido”—meaning “ Nest”, because it is small and snug , with a “bird’s eye view” over the hills, valleys and Apennine mountains. It was built in the late 1600’s—and served as the church sexton’s home. The old brick walls are two feet thick and keep the house cool in summer and retain the winter’s warmth .We have completely renovated this “Nest”and equipt it with modern conveniences..

On the GROUND FLOOR (28sq.mt/84sq.ft) there is a kitchen with fireplace and a new, travertine bath, and laundry space. UPSTAIRS(28sq.mt/84sq.ft): one bedroom (with divisible “marriage size” bed—smaller than “king”, larger than “queen”) and a panoramic sitting room with sofa-bed. The little house is perfect for two people who are looking for tranquility without isolation--a base for long country walks, wine tastings, and quiet adventures.

Casa Nido is decorated with classic Piemontese country furnishings and is equipped with comfortable bedding, stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, cutlery, dishes, cooking utensil, clothes washer, linens, TV with satellite dish/international decoder, tub/shower.

VILLA SAN SECONDO:

Casa Nido, is located at the highest point of Villa San Secondo, on the panoramic esplanade that rings the historic center of the village. “Villa” is located 12km NNW of Asti.

The village dates from around 1000 and on the site where Casa Nido stands there was once a great castle fortress—destroyed in a peasant revolt against the liege in 1304.

Today, Villa San Secondo has a population of 284 residents, four churches, a town hall, newsagent, ironsmith, a superb market and butcher shop, and a popular restaurant. (Montechiaro, 2km away, serves most other needs.) It is surrounded by hills of grapevines, fields of sunflowers and grain ,and woodlands – all backed by the profile of the Alps great peaks, Monte Rosa and Mont Viso.
