GETTING THERE AND AROUND

The Monferrato area is inside a triangle formed by Genova, Milan and Turin. It is easily accessible to the national highways that serve all Italy and connect to France and Switzerland. By car, it takes an hour or less to reach each of these three major cities. Car rentals (Avis, Europecar) are available in the nearby towns of Asti or Alba or at the major airports. Chaffeured cars are available for guided day trips.

Air: International airports: Malpensa (between Milan and Turin) ,Linate(Milan), Caselle (Turin),
Genoa, and Bergamo. Pick up and delivery to airports can be arranged with local chauffeur service.

Train: from Asti (20 minutes from either house) trains leave regularly heading
North via Turin and then to Milan, Venice, Paris, Barcelona, Geneva, etc.; or South,
via Pisa or Bologna to Florence, Rome, Naples etc. (All Italian train schedules

Bus: from both San Martino Alfieri and Villa San Secondo there is regular public bus service to Asti, Alba, and most of the surrounding villages.

Sea: Car ferries for trips to Sardegna and Corsica can be boarded at Genova/Savona.
